Ian Jeffrey, VE3IGJ, our hard-working behind the scenes editor of the Groundwave will be speaking to us about Jim Spilsbury and the SBX-11A Radio. Spilsbury was a British Columbia entrepreneur, and among many accomplishments, he was a radio operator and owner of the Queen Charlotte Airlines, which opened up the northwest coast during and after the Second World War. He was awarded the Order of British Columbia for his accomplishments. Aside from the airline, he is probably best known as the manufacturer of the SBX-11A radio used by many, including DND personnel who worked in Canada’s North.
Come out and join us for Ian's presentation on September 9, 2020, at 7:30 PM.
OARC members will get an email with information on how to join the meeting. Non-members are always welcome to join us. Please send a request to EXECUTIVE at OARC.NET and ask for an invitation.
